Backlinks, Backlinks, Backlinks. It’s what the internet is all about. Unless you have some off net promotion going on you need to have backlinks. Backlinks also help with increasing google PageRank, as it’s the way Google measures how popular you are.
But how do you get more backlinks?
One easy way to get backlinks is to be active on the following two kinds of blogs. Those that have nofollow disabled in their comments section and those that have a top commentators or top commentors list in their sidebar.
I’m not promoting spamming these blogs with nonsense comments. You should find blogs that interest you and have nofollow disabled, as well as those that have top commentors sections and provide useful comments to their blogs that help them and in return you get a link back to your site.
There’s tons of lists out there, here’s one for example, and just googling the term no nofollow brings up a lot of good resources.
Here’s a way for someone to get some great backlinks. It requires a little work, but the payoff could be great.
I’m holding a contest to get the best 50 suggestions of things bloggers think I should add to my Things You Should Do website.
To submit an entry, you write something up about your favorite place for a night out or music festival or golf course or other event on your blog. Write a nice review with photos if you have them. Link your review to the website of the place or event. Include the anchor text I require for the contest. I’m flexible and you can work the anchor text in any way you want, as long as it’s positive and has both a link to my site and to the contest info.
When you submit your entry, you get a link back to your site. As my google rank and traffic increases, so does yours. One year ago I had 100 visitors per day, now I’m close to 1200 a day. Next year who knows ;^D And if my family of websites, I have 1 – pr6/10, 3 – pr4/10, 1 – pr3/10 and several unranked but hopefully soon to be ranked sites.
I hope you’ll enter —

Thanks for the great tips, I really need to get some more backlinks, netscape and reddit are two more good backlink resources.
Yeah .. feels good to stick it back to Google and others who may generally be known as “the Man” .. thanks for bringing me current with the “yes follow” movement .. I remember following it (no pun intended) several months ago .. nice that it’s gained so much traction ..
There is a ton of blogs with nofollow disable but there are also aton with the nofollow enable.
